The fresco was designed by Antonio Palomino in 1694 and realised by his pupil Dionis Vidal in 1704. The fresco is designed in a baroque style and depicts the life of Saint Nicolas.

The restorations on the church of Saint Nicolas in Valencia were overseen by the former director of the Sistine chapel restorations in the Vatican. The project was also done in collaboration with the faculty for heritage restoration at the Technical University of Valencia (UPV).
